December 12, 2008
Greetings of the Season to All!
Believe it or not, the time is upon us for a new
installment of
The Flagpole Radio Café. Next Saturday,
December 20 at 7pm (yes, we are back on Saturdays at 7pm) we return with a brand
new show.
I know, I know you’re saying, “Come on Martin, it’s the
holidays and we’re busy. We don’t have time for your dopey little
show.” Fair enough, but you’ll feel really bad come Monday morning
when everyone is talking about the great time they had and remembering the
outrageous comedy and excellent music. You’ll be sad and you’ll
say “did I really have to go to Target that night, or my brother-in-laws lame
party, or
The Nutcracker at the New York City Ballet in Lincoln Center?”
. . .OK maybe that last one wasn’t such a good example but you get the
picture.
Some of you may be thinking, “Of course Martin, we want to
see your show but we have holiday shopping to do.” Why don’t you
purchase tickets for upcoming shows for your friends and loved ones.
Think about it. . .for a small amount of money, you can give your friends
a night out on the town.
There are 3 shows scheduled for the first
part of 2009:
February 7, March 7, and May 30.
We’ll even go the extra mile and print hard tickets for you to present.
I know, you’re now thinking, “Wow, what a great idea!
I can go to the show
and finish my holiday shopping.
You are genius Martin and I hope you are a recipient of a prestigious
MacArthur Fellowship!!!!!”
Anyway, I’ve been working hard to bring you the best damn
fake radio show in Newtown CT. Honest.
Our musical
guest for this show, will be Rabbi Rock who will perform some original and
traditional Channukah songs.
In addition to being an emerging
celebrity in the world of religious rock music, Rabbi Rock is also known as
Rabbi Shaul Praver, Rabbi for Newtown’s Congregation Adath Israel.
Also appearing will be Newtown resident Francine
Wheeler.
Not only is Francine a superb music teacher, but she is a
superb musician and singer as well.
She is performing a children’s program at the library at 10am on Monday the
15
th, so you can check her out for yourself if my word is not good
enough you.
Anyway, for those of you can come, we
are back next Saturday the 20
th at 7pm.
Call me at
364-0898 to reserve your tickets.
Thank you thank you thank you.
As always, I am going to impose upon you all to forward
this entreaty to any and all of your friends and relatives who you think might
enjoy the show.
I appeal especially to those of you who can’t
attend.
This is where you can make it up to me and the Newtown
Cultural Arts Commission.
Help spread the word. Go ahead spread
the word. . .now.
I’ll wait.
Anyway, thank you for your interest, support, and attendance.
If I don’t have occasion to see you, I wish you
happy and safe holidays and good health in the new year.
Thank you.
